Year 5 Round-Up: Shakespeare, Subtraction and Sightseeing!
It's been a busy and exciting half-term for Year 5, filled with fantastic learning experiences both in and out of the classroom.
In English, pupils have been diving into the dramatic world of Macbeth. This classic tale of ambition and betrayal inspired some outstanding writing and creative art projects. A real highlight was the visit from the Young Shakespeare Company, who brought the story to life with an interactive performance that had everyone captivated – and even joining in!
In Geography, we're beginning to travel (virtually!) across North America, exploring its diverse landscapes, climates and cultures. Pupils will compare regions, learn about key landmarks and discover what makes this vast continent so fascinating.
Maths has taken a turn into the chilly depths of negative numbers. Pupils have shown great resilience and reasoning skills as they tackled everything from temperature changes to real-life problems involving elevations and bank balances (including Mr. Stevens current account deficit!).
Outside the classroom, learning has continued in exciting ways. A group of pupils had the privilege of visiting Parliament, where they toured the historic building and took part in a workshop to learn about democracy and how laws are made – a brilliant way to bring their citizenship studies to life.
Finally, the whole year group enjoyed an unforgettable trip to the Tower of London. As well as being an iconic London landmark, the Tower offered a rich insight into our country's history. From tales of royalty and rebellion to seeing the Crown Jewels up close, it was an educational experience that really helped deepen pupils' understanding of British heritage.
Well done, Year 5, for a half-term full of curiosity, creativity and commitment!
