We've had such an exciting start to the new year having done lots of fantastic learning together so far. The children have settled in well and have been getting used to the expectations here at HJS.
In Maths, we have been focused on Place Value and basic arithmetic skills. So far in English we have been using colourful semantics to build coherent sentences with an emphasis on being able to identify word classes.
In Music, the children have started learning to play the recorder – music to Mrs Lalji's ears! During our PE sessions they have been learning the skills to play tag rugby.
Our adventures in Geography have encouraged the children to travel around the world learning about the seven continents, using their atlas skills and identifying physical and human features.
In Art, we have been learning about Giuseppe Arcimboldo, an Italian artist who lived over 400 years ago. We then created our own class Arcimboldo-inspired portraits using fruit and vegetables to make facial features!
A reminder that homework will start after half term. Please join us on Wednesday 5th November to discuss how the homework will be set. Please ensure your child completes their homework to the best of their ability, and do contact the Year 3 team if you have any questions or concerns.
