Library Book Hub
Whilst libraries are closed and access to books have been limited during 'Lockdown', we have developed our very own 'book hub. Inspired by the initiative, 'The Little Local Book Hub' whereby a group of people began putting out books at the end of their drives to swap in the first Lockdown, we decided to recreate this idea for our pupils. A bit like an outdoor library, children can walk up to the school site and take up to three books at a time to read. There is a huge variety of books, which we are adding to and changing all the time. One child said it was like a book sweet shop!
There is no charge for the service but is people want to donate children's books that they have enjoyed, they can do so but there is absolutely no expectation for them to do so. We only ask that donated books are in good quality, age appropriate and only three books are donated at a time.
Bearing in mind safety, we ask that people do not congregate around the hubs, wear masks and sanitize hands before and after handling the books.
We have lots of plans for the future of the book hub- from running competitions, story times, fun book based activities and enabling access to brilliant books during periods of school closure.
We need to thank the ladies at threemusesmarketing.com for their inspiration, advice and support in helping us set up the books hub and any other school looking to set up a similar initiative, should get in contact with them.
